Our next Writing Can Help meeting will be on 4 October 2014 at 10:30 in the FTCC All American Veterans Center. This will be a critique group meeting, so bring whatever you would like feedback on. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this meeting due to a prior commitment. No worries, the meeting will be facilitated by Mr. Neil Ray, the head of the Patriot Artist Guild. Please welcome him into our group and trust me, you can trust him.
Also, on the 18th of October, we will have a guest Workshop leader, Mr. El' Ja Bowens. I will be attending this meeting except this time I will be a group member and look forward to opportunity of learning from El' Ja. Jerry Bradley WHC

I would like to thank those of you who came to the first FTCC meeting of Writing Can Help last Saturday. We had a surprise visit from Mayor Robertson and Councilman Bill Crisp. To the surprise of many, Bill opened up about some of his own struggles and helped to set the stage for release, hope, help, and healing. We also dove into our first workshop, “Putting Emotion into Your Writing”. The participation in the workshop varied from reserved (pulling back the curtain just a little) to full and raw exposure. At the end of the meeting we took home two writing exercise about description. Our next meeting will on 6 September, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the FTCC All American Veterans Center General Classroom Building, room 202. This will be a critique meeting. Here are the guidelines:
Bring at least five copies of your work, poetry or prose.
At the top of you work, please put your name and any special directions if needed. For example: I am mainly looking for your opinion on the content such as understandability, flow, etc. I will concentrate on word editing, commas, punctuation, etc. when I have completed.
Bring no more than three poems (no need for double spacing.)
The Fayette Observer will be doing a follow up article so I expect this group to grow. As new members come please make them feel as welcome as possible. Remember, this is your group. With that being said, I have received very favorable feedback on our workshop but I am always open to questions, suggestions, comments and criticism. Please feel free to contact me. Saturday’s meeting went very well considering the challenges involved. I am sorry I scheduled our first meeting in the middle of the Dogwood Festival. I would like to thank you all for coming and I greatly appreciate the support. There were a few bumps but that can be expected on the first meeting. Our next meeting will be held on the 24th of May from 2:24 until 5:45 in the Pate room in the Headquarters Library located on 300 Maiden Lane Fayetteville, NC 28301. This meeting will be a workshop meeting so come prepared to write and have fun. After the 24 May meeting we will get into the grove of meeting every two weeks, one a critique the other a workshop. Any comments, suggestions, or feedback on the operation of the “Writing Can Help” writing group is always welcome. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
